This Week in Review

  • Grandma Curtis brought ZMan and his 2 cousins home from St. George and she stayed overnight to visit.

  • Monday afternoon ZMan had his first baseball game for the playoffs (the game should have been last Sat. but we were down several players and the game would have been rained out anyway). We went into the playoffs only winning one game so we were the underdog. The team played so good and won! Yay! Since we won we had another game immediately after and again, we WON!! It was so exciting!

  • ZMan and Princess Izzybee started swim lessons. My kids took a few lessons when they were younger but I haven't followed through with them. At the time both wouldn't put their faces in the water and hold their breath and the teacher didn't push them to do. This time ZMan is learning the swimming techniques but Princess Izzybee still won't put her face in the water and hold her breath. I guess we wait with her and try again another time.

  • Wednesday night ZMan's baseball team played again, in the rain and cold weather. The game was intense and they played so good but lost by 1 run. It was a sad night for ZMan. Overall they had a good season and there was a lot of improvement, it was fun to watch them. This week we are having a team swimming party at our house which will be fun.

  • Mom and Tiffi's kids came for a few days and I thought the girls would stay a few extra days while Mom went back to Logan. The girls missed their mom to much so they wanted to go home and my older two joined them. I'm heading up to Logan today to visit and pick them up.

Weekly Highlights

Another busy week has passed. I'm just so happy the kids are home from school, it's been good having them around. We have had things planned everyday so they haven't had a chance to be bored yet.
  • We bought season passes to Lagoon and I took all the kids on Monday. It was a trial run for me to see how I could handle everything by myself. It went okay. Some juggling was required and Princess Izzybee had to stay in Kiddie Land more than she wanted so she could ride with the Doodle.
  • Grandma Curtis came for a visit and we all went to the Zoo together and she also took the older kids to the Tree House Museum.
  • ZMan went home with Grandma Curtis and two of his cousins. She will bring him home Sunday night in time for him to take swimming lessons and play a possible double header baseball game on Monday.
  • Grandma Ruby brought Tiffi's kids down and of course Princess Izzybee and the Doodle were excited. They swam and played. Princess Izzybee wanted to head to Emery County with them but they won't be back in time for swimming lessons on Monday but when they come back through next week the girls can stay a few extra days longer and I can take them back to Logan.
  • Up until today the week was super warm so the kids have swam a lot (when it's not raining). This summer the Doodle is loving the pool and getting in which means "constant vigilance" on my part.
  • According to the Doodle Baby Ru's name is actually Baby Ruby Ru Curtis.
  • I'm looking forward to the rain tomorrow and hoping to just relax and finish my book, catch up on organizing winter clothes and dejunking the toys in the basement. Wish me luck.

Swimming Fun

Mom brought Tiffi's kids down to visit on Wednesday and the first thing they did was swim. Even Rock had a good time in the pool with his sisters. I'm glad we got swimming in that afternoon because that evening thunderstorms came.

Our Softball Player

Posted by Picasa

We have finished our softball season and Princess Izzybee had a good time. She made new friends, which was super important to her and she had a great coach so learned softball fundamentals. She claims to want to play next year but of course that could change.

BELIEVE - Presented by the 4th Grade

The fourth grade teachers gave the two classes a theme for a program and the students wrote the scripts, designed scenery and props, and created movement pieces. There were 7 scenes and they used to word BELIEVE as a theme. ZMan's scene was called "Experience Life" and the kids talked about Courage. He wrote him main line which was; "Courage is jumping off the roof into the swimming pool, Courage is being a rock star, Courage is being an an artist. It was so fun to watch each groups' skit. My favorite was at the end of each skit the group danced. ZMan's group dance to "Life is a Highway" and I could tell them had a good time coordinating the dance moves. I even got a little teary eyed realizing how grown up these kids are.

Our Little Garden

For years we have wanted to plant a garden. Several years ago we bought seeds and tried to get our own starts but I think we over-watered them and they died. This year is our garden year. We spent Saturday weeding a little area over by our back fence and earlier in the week we bought starts. Yesterday ZMan and I planted them. All I know about gardening is that it needs to be watered and weeded so lets hope we do it right and get some yummy veggies at the end of the summer. We are not a huge veggie family so I am also hoping that by growing the garden the kids will be more likely to eat them plus they will just taste better.
