First Day of School

Today was the first day of school. Z is in 3rd grade and S is in 1st grade. I'm not that excited about school starting, I hate going back to homework and making them go to bed on time and getting up. I made pancakes for breakfast and after they were ready I made them pose for pictures. R and the kids rode their bikes to school which they love doing with their dad. They had an early out so I helped pass out otter pops after school and then they rode their bikes to our church for snow cones. The entire primary meets at the church after the first day of school for snow cones and the kids love it. I enjoy it because it's fun to visit with the other moms about teachers and what to expect. I had cookies at home for them and now they are playing before dinner and soccer. I need to get S in bed by 8:00pm tonight because she it so tired.

Did you notice her black eye from her bike accident?

Birthday Party Fun

We had S's swimming birthday party yesterday. She invited girls from her school class last year, a church friend, neighbors, cousins and Patty's kids. There were lots of kids swimming and for the first hour it was a little crazy keeping an eye on so many little ones who didn't swim very well. They all had fun and S got lots of fun gifts.

About an hour before her party she was riding her bike and fell off. I could hear her screaming all the way down the street. The cute neighbor boy rode her bike home for her and to tell me about her injury but I could hear her way before he reached our house. She got a cut by her eye that bled down her check and a few scraps on her arms. It was painful for her and when my sister, the Nurse arrived she cleaned it up for her (she wouldn't let me touch it) and got the gravel out of it. S wouldn't swim for a while either but finally joined in on her birthday party fun.

Thursday Things

Yesterday our family hiked Mt. Timpanogos and then toured the cave. The hike is a mile and a half up the mountain and then a mile and a half down the mountain. Of course I had to stop and rest a lot while hiking up and when coming down S had to stop and rest a lot. The tour through the cave was cool. It's been years since I had been to Timpanogos Cave and my kids had never been so R has been wanted to go for a while now. After our hike we stopped at The Mayan for dinner. S has been asking for months to go eat at the place where people jump off the cliffs and since we were driving by it dad finally said yes. It was a fun family day.
Today S had a dentist appointment to get 4 cavities filled. Instead of our family dentist she went to a Pediatric Dentist who gave me a prescription of medicine that she said would make S luppy and tired. I gave her the drugs at 3:30pm which was 30 minutes before her appointment and had a good laugh when she was luppy for about 10 minutes. After the luppy stage she was super tired and just fell asleep and never woke up through the drive there or the appointment. Afterwards I laid her in bed and tried to wake her up for back to school night and she wouldn't wake up.
We had back to school night tonight so it was a bummer that S didn't go because she was really looking forward to meeting her new 1st grade teacher. I went to her class and R took Z to meet his new teacher. S's teacher has been teaching for a long time and I have heard wonderful things about her so I think S will have a good experience. Z's teacher is new to our school but seemed like she would be a good teacher. Z was excited to hear that she doesn't give a lot of homework, just little assignments here and there and the 20 minutes of daily reading. I am not looking forward to school starting next week.
S is having her birthday party on Saturday. I thought about taking the kids to Lagoon tomorrow for a few hours. We'll see if it works out, I have so much to do to get ready for the party and I think Z wanted to do something with his friend.

Haircuts for the Kids

This morning this kids and I went shopping for school supplies. They loved picking out their backpacks. Both think the need one with wheels, but I don't think they do. I let Z get a black backpack with wheels but I told S she needs to wait a few years. After school shopping we went for haircuts at Cookie Cutters, a new shop in Bountiful. I know years ago Patty worked in a kids salon but I have never seen one around here and it was such a darling store. My kids loved playing the computer game, picking out a movie for their station and picking a chair. S picked a cute pink car and Z pick a gray airplane. The cute lady even cut A's baby mullet for me (and of course I didn't take my camera for the actualy first cut). They had fun shampoos so we came home with rootbeer shampoo and balloons and suckers. I did spend more but the kids had fun. I saw their sign and they do manicures so I'm going to take S back soon for a cute manicure, she will love it.

Sunny & Windy Saturday

Today Z had a soccer game. It was so windy, the poor baby just sat on my lap trying to hide from the wind. I didn't think it was cold but luckily I brought jackets for the kids because they all were cold. After soccer I took the 2 older kids to the neighbor's house so I could go birhtday shopping for S. Her 6th birthday is tomorrow and I waited until the last minute to shop. I realized yesterday that R probably wouldn't be home much today or I may get called into to work in the after noon so I had better go in the morning to make sure it gets done. I was undecided on what to get her but finally went with what she was asking for the most.
Since I wasn't sure when R would be home tomorrow we decided to go out to dinner tonight and open gifts. S picked IHOP because she wanted pancakes for her birthday dinner. We all had a pancake or crepe dinner and S opened her new metalic rose Nintendo DS Lite anb was very happy. I picked out a few games I thought she would enjoy; Cake Mania, nintendogs. Hannah Montana Music Jam. I have to admitt, I don't play video games, I just don't have a desire or interest but I was kinda excited to try out Cake Mania. After dinner the kids went to play night games with the neighbors so I played Cake Mania for about an hour. I was pretty bad but it was a little fun.

Finally Friday

R and I came home from Snowbird Monday morning. The kids stayed up with their Grandma and cousins. Grandma brought them home midday Wednesday. They did the a bunch of the Snowbird Summer Activities including the Alpine Slide. Snowbird also has crafts and games so the t-shirts they are wearing in the picture they colored at one of the craft activities. The kids had a lot of fun and were a little sad to be home.
S's 6th birthday is this Sunday. We will have her birthday party next Saturday. She said she wanted a Chucky Cheese or swimming party. Not a hard choice for me since I hate Chucky Cheese and we have a pool. I need to get the invitations out today.
Today we have had some drama with all the vehicles at our house. We parked Grandma's trailer in our backyard and we have 2 trailers or our own plus our two vechiles that we drive and the two vehicles that we need to sell. Oh I also forgot the flatbed trailer. A nice policeman came to let us know about a neighbor complaint with both trailers parked out front so I actually moved one of them today. I never drive the suburban with the trailer but I figured I could drive it around the block and park it, which I was able to do without any problems. Both vans are squeezed onto our driveway and the flatbed is down the street and needs to be moved for a neighbor but the new neighbors have the lock key since DH told them they could borrow it while they are moving in. Anyone interested in a suburban, van or camp trailer????
This past Saturday we met our new neighbors. They are moving in throughout the week. Their family has a son that was in Z's class last year so they have been playing non-stop since Z got home from Snowbird. I wish they had a girl S's age, bummer. We are happy to have neighbors again, although we used to use the driveway for extra parking.

Snowbird Stuff

R's mom has been RV'ing since June and pulled into our house yesterday about 11:30am. Harold and Marlene returned for their Snowbird timeshare week which started today. My kids were so happy to have Grandma visiting and staying with us. The kids have also been excited to come up to Snowbird to stay and play with their cousins. R and I have work but for the first time R was thinking we should stay a day or two up their. After Grandma left with the kids this eveing R said let's pack and go up for tonight and tomorrow. He actually has to work tomorrow so he will drive down in the morning and then drive back up to pick up the baby and me. Grandma will bring the kids home Wednesday and if we are able to I guess we can try to come back up.
