Carrot Cake Murder (A Hannah Swensen Mystery, #10)

I read Carrot Cake Murder for 2 reading challenges; Cozy Mystery Challenge 2010 and Light & Fluffy Fluke-A-Thon. I have liked the Hannah Swensen series and this was no exception. I do wish Hannah would choose between Mike and Norman and I am leaning towards Norman. Will Joanne Fluke ever have Hannah make a decision in this romance? There are several recipes I want to try like the Carrot Cake and Peanut Butter Cake recipes.

Ice Cream Cone Success

We are having a little more success on the potty training battle. I was super discouraged last week when we were gone for the day and had a bunch of accidents away from the house. My sweet hubby helped me feel better and not beat myself up over the accidents. Every time the Doodle poops on the potty she gets an ice cream cone, even if it's for breakfast (like this morning) and we've had several ice creams cones this past week. Yay!!

County Project Completed

ZMan is in the 4th grade. This year he had to do a project on a county in Utah. He was given Sevier County and he had about a month and a half to do it. Of course we procrastinate and started it about 2 weeks before the due date. Just in case you are wondering by "we" I mean that the assignment was ZMan's but all projects for elementary school students are also projects for their parents. ZMan had to do a flip chart with important information, an oral presentation and a presentation idea page. It's due Tuesday so we finished the poster Sunday night and tonight he practiced the oral presentation and will give it to his class tomorrow. Good luck ZMan!

Friday Family Update

I'm so glad it's the weekend. I would love to be able to relax, read and just not do much but that's not happening. The weather is supposed to be good over the weekend so that is super news.

My sister from Colorado is visiting again so tomorrow after baseball practice we will drive up to Logan for the day. The kids will have a good time playing with cousins and I'll get to visit with my sisters. I'm not sure if Randy will have fun since he will be the only guy there this time, maybe he'll at least be able to catch a nap.

Today I took the Doodle in for a speech test. I've be concerned about her speech since she turned 2 but I kept thinking she was doing okay and improving. Randy didn't agree with me and felt she should be tested and several other friends have suggested that she is not up to her age level. The speech teacher did the tests today and sent me home with paperwork to complete and give back to her. She will qualify for speech but at this point I'm not sure what services she will receive, they will let me know after they review her tests. The Doodles speech problems aren't as severe as ZMan's were but she defiantly needs assistance.

This past week we have one, two or sometimes three activities scheduled every afternoon/evening. It's been crazy and the kids didn't have any play time after school this week until today. Between their activities and homework/projects they are a little "over scheduled" which was never my intention but the are having fun. I told ZMan by next spring he needs to decide between soccer and baseball Princess Izzybee may need to pick between gymnastics and sports. There are so many fun things out there to try so it's hard to decide.

We are hoping to plant a small garden this year so we need to get going on that and I'm sure our yard needs some work. Looks like I need to get the kids busy helping us with the yard and garden.

Baby Ru's 4 Month Well Check

Today Baby Ru had her four month well check. I can't believe she is growing so big so quickly.

Weight: 13 pounds (36%)
Length 24 inches (41%)

She rolled over today for the first time at the doctor's office. She was just so mad at being examined and rolled. She such a sweetie and the kids can't seem to get enough of her. I love to just be able to hold her and pretend I have nothing else to do but hold her. We are blessed.

Friday Family Update

Aunt Seretia, Uncle Dodd, Aunt Etova, Dad

Another busy week has come and gone and I have survived!!

The kids are full into our Spring activities and we are going every which way. Princess Izzybee had her first softball game this week and had fun. She bat and made it to base and ran after the balls in the outfield along with all the other cute girls on her team. ZMan has had soccer and baseball. He missed his Wednesday night game but has one in the morning. He loves to play goalkeeper and I understand he was missed by his team since the others weren't interested in playing keeper.

Last Friday, April 9th, my dad's brother, my Uncle Lynden passed away after a 3 year battle with Leukemia. The viewing was Tuesday night and the funeral was Wednesday morning. His three kids live in three different states and they were all able to make it out. It was so good to see the family even under such sad circumstances. I loved visiting with my aunts and cousins and also getting to know cousins I haven't really known. I am grateful for my family and my thoughts and prayers are with my aunt who lost her husband, my cousins who lost their father and my aunts, uncle and dad who lost a brother.

Michelle and Craig gave us some free tickets to the Salt Lake Bees opening game tonight so Randy took ZMan and Princess Izzybee along with friends. I'm sure they are having a fun time. I was able to get the younger girls to bed and have some much needed quiet time at home.

ZMan is re-reading Diary of a Wimpy Kid and I snapped this picture because he was reading without being asked which rarely happens. The Doodle loves to put puzzles together and she had just finished a Winnie the Pooh puzzle. Princess Izzybee is displaying her art project from school. Baby Ru is looking cute in her brother's baseball hat.

On What Grounds (Coffeehouse Mystery, #1)

I finished reading On What Grounds (Coffeehouse Mystery, #1) and really enjoyed the first book of the series. I am not a coffee drinker but it was still fun to learn so many interesting facts about coffee and it's history. I never new coffee brewing was such a science. The main character Clare was very likeable and I thought she had a sweet relationship with her former MIL Madame. It will be interesting to read the other books in the series to see if any happens between her and her ex-hubby Matt. Good twist at the end of the book.

Easter Thoughts

I hope everyone is having a good easter. Ours is a little different this year but that's okay. Randy had to go into work early this morning and Princess Izzybee is down home with cousins so it's just me along with ZMan, The Doodle and Baby Roo.

The kids had fun with their baskets this morning. I let ZMan hide the eggs for The Doodle which he loved doing and then he helped her find them all. She wasn't wanting to search for them all because she wanted to empty out each egg and eat the candy. ZMan had been wanting some sculpey clay since his class made art projects with it a few weeks back so that is what the Easter Bunny brought him along with candy. The Easter Bunny brought The Doodle a Zu Zu Pet with a carrier, blanket, a Barbie Princess movie and lots of candy.

Princess Izzybee with to my sister's house in Orangeville along with my other sister and Mom . She will spend her Spring Break there with her cousins and she was so excited to go. The Easter Bunny visited her also and she got a basket full of candy along with an Easter outfit. The Easter Bunny left her a Zu Zu Pet at the house for when she returns. She called me about an hour ago and she is having so much fun she hardly wanted to talk. I will miss her this week but I'm happy she will have a lot of fun and make lasting memories with her cousins.

Yesterday we went to the Rasmussen's home (Randy grew up with them next door) for some Easter fun, eat lunch and watch conference. It was so nice of them to invite us and we love being around their family. The food was so yummy (I need the chicken recipe), the company was great and the kids had a blast running around, coloring eggs and decorating and eating sugar cookies. I just love that we were able to spend some of the holiday with a family that is like family since we weren't able to spend it with our families. I'm bummed because I forgot my camera so I don't have any pictures of our day.

When we got home the kids decorated Easter Eggs and it was funny because The Doodle just used one color for all her eggs: GREEN. She has a whole cartoon of green eggs. ZMan had to share some of his eggs also because she had finished first.

Randy should be home soon and he's bringing Holly's younger 2 boys over for the night so ZMan will be happy to have some company. I need to go start on Easter dinner and watch conference.

Happy Easter!

April Fool's Oreo Cookie

Posted by Picasa

ZMan wanted so badly to do an April Fool's joke on someone. He asked me to buy oreos so he could scrape out the middle, add toothpaste and trick someone. I helped him decide to try it on his dad. ZMan thought this was pretty funny. Dad was good at going along with the joke.
